This forum provides the possibility to “embed media”:

I tried to use this with a custom domain as well as with YouTube in one post, but there was always an error, “this domain is not allowed”. What domains are allowed, actually?

Hi Tim. Yes, I am sure we are allowed to embed media here. Last week I tried and I couldn’t do it. Then, I checked and realized the video I was trying to add here wasn’t “public” on Youtube. If the video is not public or isn’t listed there, you cannot share it here.

Dear @Juliana Spinardi : you are right, sorry if the question was slightly loaded.

YouTube indeed works. Even the video I wanted to embed in the mentioned post works now. I suppose it was just too early as I had uploaded the video mere minutes before trying to embed it.

My custom domain, genieblog.ch (with the video file https://test.genieblog.ch/public/PipefyPhone.mov equivalent to the YouTube file) is probably either (a) indeed forbidden, as it would be a security risk to allow any domains, or (b) lacks the required meta-infos.

To actually answer my question, what domains work: first tests show that at least YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, work.

Got it!
A lot of media can be embedded in your article from major platforms like:

  • 5min.com
  • Blip.tv
  • Canva
  • CodePen
  • CollegeHumor
  • Daily Motion
  • Deezer
  • Figma
  • Funnyordie
  • Giphy
  • Hulu
  • Livejournal
  • Loom
  • Metacafe
  • Pingvp
  • Qik.com
  • Revision3
  • Scribd.
  • Soundcloud
  • Tenor
  • Thedailyshow
  • Twitter
  • Typeform
  • Viddler.
  • Vidyard
  • Vimeo
  • Wistia
  • WordPress.tv
  • Xkcd
  • Yfrog
  • Youtube

Note: When embedding media use the direct browser URL (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxv6IRcuNaI) and not the embedded URL (https://www.youtube.com/embed/Oxv6IRcuNaI - mind the /embed/)

Let me know if you still having trouble embedding your media, please! I can connect with my support here, okay?
