Clarify "connected card" and "parent card" terminology on Pipe Connections

Could someone help clarify terminology on “Advanced Options” for a Connection Field on a Pipe Phase

Am I correct in thinking that the Pipe Phase Card is the “parent card” and any cards associated with it in this pipe or any other pipe are “connected card”?
