Overview

Pipefy AI Agents now include a capability that addresses one of the most critical limitations of generative AI in operations: mathematical imprecision.

With Calculations & Analysis enabled, agents write and execute small programs at runtime inside a secure sandbox, delivering absolute accuracy for math, complex business logic, and data extracted from documents.

What's new?

Pipe Admins enable this capability directly from the Behaviors tab of any AI Agent.

  • "Calculations & Analysis" capability available in the Behaviors tab of any AI Agent. When enabled, the agent writes and runs code at runtime to process business logic with deterministic precision.
  • Guaranteed mathematical accuracy: invoice totals, conversion rates, cost center splits, and penalty calculations are computed with absolute precision, with no risk of hallucination.
  • Business logic in plain text: rules that previously lived in external spreadsheets or custom integrations can now be described directly in the agent's configuration.
  • Document data extraction and structuring: the agent extracts tabular or unstructured data from attached PDFs and images and converts it into clean, field-ready values.

How does this help?

  • Eliminates math hallucinations in critical operational calculations, such as invoice totals, interest application, and cost splits across accounting centers.
  • Replaces external spreadsheets and integrations for rule-based business logic, reducing dependency on satellite tools and ongoing maintenance effort.
  • Converts documents into structured data automatically: PDFs and images containing tables or variable fields become treated values, with no manual entry or preprocessing required.
  • Keeps admins in control: the capability is activated by explicit choice of the Pipe Admin, preserving governance over when and where the agent runs advanced logic.

Use cases

1. Expense Approval agent validates cost allocations before routing for approval An agent running the reimbursement workflow receives a form with multiple expense line items and cost center allocation percentages. With Calculations & Analysis enabled, it verifies that allocations sum to exactly 100%, recalculates proportional amounts per center, and populates the corresponding card fields before triggering the approver, with no spreadsheet lookup and no risk of mismatched totals.

2. Contract Review agent extracts and structures financial clause data In a contract review process, the agent receives PDFs containing adjustment tables, indexes, and deadlines in varying formats. It extracts the tabular data, normalizes the values, and fills structured fields in the contracts pipe (applicable index, effective date, adjustment percentage), eliminating the manual transcription step and reducing input errors in high-volume workflows.

3. Procurement agent automatically ranks vendors using a weighted scoring model When receiving three or more quotes in PDF or form format, the agent applies a scoring matrix configured by the admin, assigning weight to price, lead time, and payment terms. It computes the final score for each vendor and writes the result directly into the purchase approval card, including the ranking and supporting rationale, without involving an analyst to run the comparison in a spreadsheet.

4. ITSM agent calculates remaining SLA time and classifies incident priority in real time In the ticket intake flow, the agent receives the incident category, the opening timestamp, and the SLA parameters configured for each tier. It calculates the time remaining before a breach, updates the urgency field on the card accordingly, and ensures escalations happen before deadlines, without relying on periodic manual checks.

5. Billing agent applies compound interest and penalty rules to overdue invoices In a collections process, the agent receives the original invoice amount, the due date, and the contractual parameters for late fees and compound interest. It executes the exact updated amount calculation, populates the total-due field, and logs the breakdown on the card, replacing lookups to external spreadsheets and eliminating discrepancies between billed and contracted amounts.

Most relevant for

  • Pipe Admins building or maintaining workflows with financial logic or business rules
  • Operations teams that currently rely on external spreadsheets to complement Pipefy processes
  • Procurement and Finance teams with calculation-driven approval flows
  • ITSM teams with SLA configured by incident category
  • Builders developing advanced automations with AI Agents
