Hello:

I’m seeking advice on displaying linked data.

I have an Onboarding “form” (Pipe) and within the form is a link to a “Position Matrix” database.  Users of the Onboarding form can select a defined job role from the “Position Matrix”. Within the “Position Matrix” database, a list of equipment and software for each role are tabled.

The “pop-out” feature is handy in that it allows the Onboarding form User to view all of the attributes of the selected Position.

There are 3 issues:

  • A Pipefy User Login is required, as it opens the “Position Matrix” database in a new tab
  • A Read-only overlay or a link back to Onboarding form is desired (not opening the database to edit)
  • Pop-out windows are not anchored in the frame


Is it possible to display (only, without a login required) the requested data, anchored within the existing Pipefy Onboarding form?

Regarding your request, I believe using a database field connection could be a great solution for displaying the linked data within your Onboarding form.

With a database field, you can directly connect your Onboarding form to the "Position Matrix" database, allowing users to select a defined job role from the Position Matrix, and the corresponding equipment and software information for that role will be automatically displayed within the form, without the need to open a new tab.

Here’s how it could address your needs:

  1. No login required: The data would be visible directly in the form, without requiring the user to log in, since it’s linked through the database field.
  2. Search for existing cards or records: You can configure the field to search for existing cards or records in the database, allowing users to quickly find the relevant information tied to the selected job role.
  3. Integrated within the form: Instead of opening a separate pop-out window or a new tab, the linked data would be displayed directly in the form, providing a seamless user experience.

By using this method, the data from the "Position Matrix" would be displayed right in the Onboarding form, allowing for an easier and more efficient workflow.

I will need to review the Database Connection(s) of my project Pipe, as I’d thought that the Database Connection was “all-or-nothing” (no options available).
