I would like to either prohibit the removal of connected cards entirely, or require a confirmation, just like for deletion of a card/entry (in the sense of “do you really want to remove this connected {card/database entry}?”).

 

The reason I am looking for this feature is the following:  The remove button is just too similar to a close button and my users tend to inadvertedly remove a connected card/database entry instead of closing it after clicking on it. I am talking about this button:

The removal button, which is clicked way too fast/easy and does not spawn a confirmation request.

Seems like you could use some "error-proof" improvements. Since it is a destructive action, it does make sense to at least add a confirmation dialog.
