Labels: unique labels per pipe

Hello, community!

How do I create unique labels for each pipe?

Since the standard is to have global labels, the list becomes enormous because each pipe has its own needs, and usability becomes very poor.

Hi @jorge-saito , welcome to the community!

At the moment, labels in Pipefy are global, meaning they are shared across all pipes in the account. There isn’t a native way to create labels that are unique or restricted to a specific pipe only.

Because of this limitation, when the account has many pipes with different use cases, the label list can indeed grow a lot and hurt usability.

As a workaround, some best practices that usually help are:

  • Using clear naming conventions (for example, prefixing labels with the pipe name or abbreviation).

  • Replacing labels with select or dropdown fields inside the pipe, which are pipe-specific and much easier to control.

  • Using labels only for truly global concepts (like priority or SLA), and keeping pipe-specific classifications as fields.

If you’re dealing with a high volume of cards, labels can still be very useful for quick visual identification — priorities, categories, lead temperature, payment types, etc. — as long as they’re applied with a clear strategy.

This article explains the fundamentals and good use cases for labels:

Hi João,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for the detailed explanation!

It’s very helpful to understand that labels function on a global level. While the current limitation can indeed impact usability as the number of pipes grows, the workarounds you suggested are excellent.

I particularly like the idea of replacing labels with pipe-specific dropdown fields for more granular control, and using prefix naming conventions for the labels that must remain global. I will also take a look at the article you linked to refine our strategy here.

I appreciate you taking the time to share these best practices!

Best regards,

Jorge Saito
